What is GEAR UP?
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded program. The mission of GEAR UP is to significantly increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post secondary education. GEAR UP - ST LOUIS is sponsored by University of MO - St. Louis and St. Louis Community College.
- The program serves students in 22 high schools located in 10 school districts. Students must be part of the 2011 graduating cohort class.
- Students along with their families and teachers from the partnering school districts can participate in various GEAR UP programs.
- GEAR UP provides services and resources to students, families and teachers from participating schools.
GEAR UP - ST. Louis services and programs are designed to:
- Prepare students for academic success
- Facilitate transition from high school to post secondary education
- Increase access and utilization of financial aid information and resources
