No matter what your career goals are, you should begin to prepare during your middle school years, whether you want to be an artist, auto mechanic, lawyer, or computer programmer.  There are things you can do -academically and non-academically-to make yourself more attractive to future employers or partners, college and universities, military recruiters, or trade and technical schools.  All want to see how well rounded you are as a person.
